Gecko's Christmas party

What a fantastic turn out for our under 18's Christmas Party this year.

Lots of balloon popping, cracker pulling and cake eating, and that was just the staff!

Great to see everyone getting into the spirit of Christmas and having a brill time with all the fun games on offer.

Climbing Club

Lots of excellent climbing going on this week with our under 18's as usual, some brilliant foot and hand jamming skills by Jennifer and some super belaying too.
Don't forget this Friday is our Christmas party, its going to be fun packed with lots of games/ prizes and treats.

Geckos Halloween Party

This year the Geckos Halloween Party will be on Friday 28th October.
Fancy dress competition, games and prizes to be won.

Geckos Outdoors @ Hobson Moor 13th August 2011

It was a brilliant day with the Geckos on Saturday, with the weather holding out and even a few rays of sunshine later in the afternoon. We got loads of climbing done and finished off the day with an abseil. Thanks to everyone who came along. Check out all the pictures on the Geckos Flickr account.

Outdoor Climbing 18th June

It was mixed weather on our most recent outdoor day as the pictures show! We managed to get around 45 mins of climbing done before the heavens opened and we took shelter. Then there was a break for another 30 minutes or so before it rained again. After the second downpour we decided to go back to The Rope Race and finish off the day indoors. Geckos Outdoors at Windgather 1st June

It was an absolute scorcher on Wednesday for the Holiday club outdoor climbing day. We got loads of climbing done with plenty of bouldering and an abseil to finish off the day. Already looking forward to the 18th of June when we get to do it all again. Check out the Geckos photo gallery for more pictures.

Outdoor Climbing at Windgather 16th April

The Geckos are going outdoors on Saturday 16th April 2011 from 10a.m - 3p.m.

It will cost £25 per person, anyone under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

We're going to Wingather Rocks and there is a maximum number of 8, so get booking to avoid dissapointment.

Halloween Fancy Dress

Join us this Friday for our Geckos Halloween fancy dress night. Let us know which of the Friday Geckos session you are coming to, put on your scariest outfit and come and play some climbing games with us. Prizes for best outfits.

Up coming events!

Over the next few months there are some exciting events coming up. The first is the Halloween fancy dress night, it is on the 29th October. Come down in your best/worst fancy dress outfit and play some games as well as the usual climbing. These run in the normal Friday night sessions 5-7 and 7-9
On the 19th of November it is Children In Need night. we will be running some fundraising activities, if you have any ideas for activities let us know in the coming weeks.
On the 10th of December we will running our fantastic Christmas Party. More information will be given closer to the date.
Put these dates in your diaries now and get ready for the fun!

BMC - Youth Climbing Series

Well done to Liberty and Elissa for for climbing brilliantly at the finals in Scotland. The competition took place at Ratho the UK`s National Centre, Liberty came 6th in the 8-10years and Elissa 16th in the 11-13 years. Look forward to seeing the photos

We are postponing the outdoor day from the 6th March to the 13th March

Geckos go outdoors

We are postponing the outdoor climibng day on the 30th Jan and changing it to Saturday 6th March. I think I was being a bit optimistic thinking we would get out so early in the season. If the weather is a bit better in the half term holiday we might put a outdoor day on the Friday. Will keep you posted

Geckos 2010

Happy New Year!!
Geckos sessions start again this Friday & Saturday

For anyone who would like to start the NICAS or our own Geckos award have a word with one of the instructors and we will sign you up.

This Friday we are also running a fun bouldering competition along side the usual climbing session, pick up your card on reception, there will be 25 problems with something for everyone to have a go at and best of all there will be prizes.

Holidays

Well its seems that now all the schools have finished for the summer holidays its started raining!! We have a full activity programme for the holidays and hopefully outdoor climbing every Friday.

Summer Holidays

Why not join us these summer holidays? Our summer activities run between Monday 27th July - Friday 4th September. Our new activities include a nature and navigation walk and a craft session which were fantastic so they are back by popular demand, as well as our firm favorites indoor climbing and indoor archery plus the ever popular outdoor climbing. So contact us as soon as you can to secure your place.

More Climbing @ Windgather

It was another excellent day at Windgather on Friday, starting the day with some bouldering we then continued onto the main crag after lunch. Everyone climbed really well and managed to tick off one of the hardest climbs there called portfolio at 5b. Well done guys, more pics in the Geckos photo gallery.

On Friday 29th May we went outdoors as part of our holiday activities. The weather couldn't have been any better as we enjoyed the whole day in the beaming sunshine. Here are a few photos of the day (for more pictures visit the Geckos photo gallery)

Holiday activities

Why not join us this school half term, we have a new programme of events including climbng, archery, outdoor climbing, nature walk and crafts. During the school Holidays, we are climbing outdoors on Friday 29th May and June 5th at Windgather Rocks. The cost of the day will be £30 and will include all equipment needed. We will be meeting at the centre at 10 a.m and plan to be back before 4 p.m. You will need to bring plenty of warm clothes and a waterproof, plus a packed lunch. Phone the centre to book your place. (if cold and wet, visit the main website for normal activities indoors)

Easter Holidays

Outdoor climbing

Yet again we will try and get outdoors this easter holiday!! We will hopefully (weather permitting) going out on Friday 17th April. We will be meeting at Rope Race at 10.00 and be back at the centre by 4.00pm, the cost for the full day will be £30.00 including all the equipment and instruction. Booking is essential as place are limited, so if you fancy a day outdoors contact us as soon as possible.

Once again, well done everyone who turned up to help raise money for charity. There was some fantastic climbing on the night as well as some fantastic wellies!!

Red Nose Day

Don't forget this Friday we will be holding a fun competition and hopefully raise some money for this great charity. Do something funny for money and decorate your wellies, best pair wins a prize.

Red Nose Day - Climbing competition

This year we are hoping that you are going to raise loads more money for this brilliant charity. On Friday 13th March we will holding a fun competition for anyone who wants to join in, there will be 3 routes and 3 boulder problems and prizes for the winners. The competition will start at 5pm until 9pm, there will be judges on every route so come when you can and have a go.
There will also a prize for the best decorated wellies!! so don you boots, get the sticky back plastic out and let your imagination go wild!! (you don't have to climb in them but it would be fun)

2009

New and improved GECKOS will be up and running soon, we would like you all to re-register so we can keep in touch and let you know all the fun and exciting events that will be running in 2009. We will be holding GECKOS bouldering and climbing competitions every month with prizes, we will also be competing against other walls in fun climbing & bouldering comps. If you would like some extra training, Paul runs the ROCK ACADEMY on a Wednesday 6.00pm-7.30pm, if you would like to join, just ring and let us know you are coming.
